A sailing logbook that records your track and fills in the log – privately, on your iPhone.
Questions, feedback or a problem with the app? Write to jonas.volk89@gmail.com – we usually answer within two working days.
To restore a purchase on a new device, open Settings in the app and tap "Restore purchases". Subscriptions are managed in your Apple ID settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions).
Recording tips: Allow location access "While Using the App" and keep "Precise Location" on. Start recording with "Cast off" before you leave; Logvela keeps recording with the screen locked (blue indicator) until you tap "Moor". Low Power Mode and very old batteries can shorten recording time – a power bank on board helps on long passages.
Logvela is a logbook. It is not a navigation aid and not a safety device. Positions, distances and speeds come from your iPhone's GPS and can be inaccurate or missing, and the map is not a nautical chart. Always navigate with official charts and proper marine equipment, and follow official weather forecasts. The barograph only shows readings and is not a weather warning. Sea-mile confirmations are templates; whether they are accepted is decided by the examining authority.

Logvela ("the app") is developed by Jonas Volk, Switzerland. This policy explains what happens with your data when you use the app.
Logvela does not collect, transmit, sell or share any personal data. The app has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party tracking SDKs, and it does not connect to any server of ours.
While you record a leg, the app uses your iPhone's location (also in the background, shown by the blue indicator) to draw your track and to measure distance, speed and time. The track is stored only on your device. To show the map and to name the harbour where a leg starts and ends, the app uses Apple's map services (MapKit); Apple processes these requests under its own privacy policy and does not share them with us.
Everything you record or enter – tracks, log entries, photos, air pressure readings, boats, crew names, goals and signatures – is stored only on your device. If you use iCloud device backups, this data may be included in your backup under Apple's privacy policy. You can delete all data in the app (Settings → Delete all data); deleting the app also deletes all of its data.
PDF logbooks, sea-mile confirmations and GPX files are created on your device. They only leave your device if you choose to share them, for example by email or AirDrop, and then only to the recipient you pick. GPX files you import are read on your device.
If you allow it, the app reads the air pressure from your iPhone's barometer while recording and saves it in your logbook on the device.
Purchases and subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your payment information. Apple shares only anonymous, aggregated sales information with developers.
The app does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published on this page with a new date.
